3 Understanding Our Pay Structure

At CHANGE Cafe, we believe in rewarding hard work transparently. We use a hybrid compensation model designed to maximize your take-home pay:

  • Your Base Cash Rate: $3.35 per hour + tips (accrued from our active daily tip pool).
  • Our Guaranteed Floor: $16.00 per hour minimum. If your base wage plus tips averages less than $16.00/hr during any pay period, CHANGE Cafe automatically pays the difference. You will never make less than $16.00/hr.
  • The Federal Tip Tax Deduction: Under federal tax guidelines, food and beverage service workers can deduct up to $25,000 of reported tip income from their federal income taxes. Because a major portion of your $16+/hr earnings comes from our tip pool, you can significantly lower your year-end federal income tax liability — keeping more of your hard-earned cash right where it belongs.

5 Culture & Who You Are

This is the heart of our application. We can teach anyone to pull a perfect espresso shot. What we can’t teach is genuine care for people — that’s what we’re looking for. Take your time with these.
